little bits of printy things
As a lover of story, print, textiles and graphics, my works are engineered from paper and mixed media producing unexpected combinations. My home is a treasure trove of found, pre-loved materials waiting to be used together with four old typewriters and a wide selection of collected lettering as I love a ‘printer’s pie’ of type (old printmaking slang for jumbled, unsorted letters!)
I make everything myself using traditional bookbinding, assemblage, sewing, collage and print. With origins in happy childhood story sharing reawakened by my MA in Contemporary Craft at Coventry Uni where I discovered more about the need for storytelling and keeping traditional tales alive, I draw on vintage texts, rhymes and sayings to produce a collection of bookworks, larger paper characters, collages, illustrations, prints and keepsakes.
Often described as quirky and amusing, my work brings an original but personal connection to people’s own memories.
